31 Days in December #11: Bouquets of surprise

Sometimes the best of life's bouquets add a twist to the expected.

We're leaving today to visit family in Europe until Christmas Eve. We wonder what the days will bring, in addition to hellos and goodbyes on that side of the world. We've scheduled opportunities for speaking and fundraising but I probably won't spotlight those.

I'm looking forward to God's beauty in a different area of the world. Among people. In communities. In our surroundings. Can't wait. (Oh my, those long flights are still ahead.)

That said, whatever I'm thinking this trip will bring, there will be surprises. God rarely does the expected. That might be because our imagination is limited. Finite.

*Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Psalm 103:1-5 NIV

*Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 NEV

*Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, Hebrews 12:28 ESV
